Tips for Designing the Perfect Website

There are many steps to follow when it comes to designing a website that is fully functional, attractive and easy to use. In order to help you design a website that you are proud of and that your customers enjoy, we have put together a list of things that you should do before you begin the design and building process.
  • Objectives - Before you begin designing your next website, it's important that you get into the right mindset. This means that you should carefully look over any notes that you may have taken regarding the design. By reading over your notes, you will have a clearer understanding as to what the client is looking for. This will also provide you with an opportunity to determine if there are any problems with the design or concept before you become too involved in the design process.

  • Wireframing - Once you have a clear understanding of what your design involves, it is now time to begin wireframing your design. This step can either be done using a computer or on paper. Some designers prefer using paper and pencil because it allows them to make notes on the design or to make changes easily. This step will allow you to visually develop an idea of how your design will look once you begin working on it. You should also use this step to create designs that can be viewed on devices other than a computer. Take into consideration the different mobile devices and the screen size associated with each.

  • Design - After completing the steps above, you are now ready to begin the design and building process. By the time that you reach this stage, you should feel that you have a clear understanding of how you are going to proceed. While designing, you should keep all of your notes and wireframes within reach in case you need to refer to them during the process. If you reach a point in this process where it feels as though you have hit a brick wall, you may want to take a break and step away from the computer.
